Rev. Mark DeVries, MDiv 鈥�86, to be Honored with 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award
The Rev. Mark DeVries, MDiv 鈥�86, arrived at 星空传媒 a 鈥渇undamentalist鈥� intent on protecting the truth as he saw it. He left with an expansive and evolving view of ministry that shaped the rest of his professional and personal life, one that creates space where others can discern, experiment, and lead. This May, DeVries will receive the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award at Reunion to honor the significant impact his work has had in the field of youth and family ministry, as well as with congregations and ministry organizations throughout the world.
From First-Generation Student to Scholar: How Princeton Seminary Broadened Her Faith and Career
Casey Lynn Smith, PhD 鈥�25, MTS 鈥�17, was a first-generation college student at a small Christian university in Tennessee when her professors offered some advice that surprised her. They told her she should go to graduate school. 鈥淚 think I said to them, 鈥榃hat鈥檚 that?鈥欌�� Smith said. Smith, homeschooled and raised in a conservative Pentecostal denomination, never imagined she鈥檇 become a history scholar. But she went on to earn two degrees from 星空传媒, developing a distinctive research specialty that explores gender, and sexuality.
FDNY Chaplain Pamela Holmes-Saxton, MDiv 鈥�14, to be Honored with 2026 Alumni Service Award
Whether praying at the site of a three-alarm fire, visiting the bedside of an injured firefighter or EMS worker, or delivering an invocation, the Rev. Pamela Holmes-Saxton, MDiv 鈥�14, is a source of spiritual support for the largest fire department in the US. As one of just a handful of New York City Fire Department (FDNY) chaplains, she and her colleagues serve more than 11,000 firefighters, 4,500 EMTs, paramedics and EMS officers, and their families during some of the most emotional moments in their lives.
